Poll Results: Marco Mengoni is Your Favourite BIG Six Contestant

In recent years the Big 5—those countries with deep pockets who automatically qualify for the final—have really brought it. From Germany’s Lena to Italy’s Raphael Gualazzi, the Big 5 is now synonymous with the Top 10. Throw in the host nation, whose contestant won the previous year, and you’ve got six automatic qualifiers for the final who can threaten for the Eurovision trophy.

Two days ago Team Wiwi asked you to choose your favourite Big 6 contestant. After a total of 951 votes, we can now reveal that Italian stallion Marco Mengoni has one the race by a sequin. The “L’Essenziale” singer, who loves him some Salvatore Ferragamo, earned 225 votes. That put him just one vote ahead of Germany’s Cascada. The “Glorious” dance act earned 224.

Britain’s Bonnie Tyler came third, despite experiencing a total eclipse of her voice during a press conference this week. Y’all are clearly very forgiving and threw her 152 votes. That put her narrowly ahead of France’s Amandine Bourgeous. The “Hell and Me” singer took home 150. Sweden’s Robin Stjernberg, who wax and waned on modesty at his most recent press conference, came fourth with 135.

El Sueno de Morfeo, the Spanish band that draws on Celtic sounds but ultimately ends up sounding like cheap Enya, came last. They earned just 65 votes for their song “Contigo hasta el final”.

Eurovision, la bella, la bestia… y el artista

Y hemos dejado para el final, la joya, El talento, el artista. No estaba yo en el jurado español que le dió los 12 puntos pero ya empiezo a creer en mis capacidades mentalistas. Esa joya que cada año hay que saber buscar en el festival, oculta entre astrakanadas, fanfarrias y estridencias. Se la reconoce por un brillo más profundo, un destello que te llega a el alma. Primero te corta la respiración, te deja inmóvil y a continuación, te estremece. Es el arte, el artista en estado puro. Ese trovador del siglo XXI que se llama Marco Mengoni, con esa exquisitez de melodía: “L’essenziale” y esa performance que ponía los pelos de punta. No importaba que el traje se lo hubiera prestado su sobrino chico después de hacer la Primera Comunión. No importaba que el italiano apenas se moviera un palmo de allí donde lo dejó el director de escena. Ni que se quedara impertérrito cuando España le dio los doce puntos (aunque se le viera pronunciar “gracias” en castellano). Daba todo igual. Todo era accesorio, porque allí, en la noche estrellada de Mälmo cantaba un artista, solo frente al mundo. Marco desvelaba sus sentimientos más profundos, con el susurro de una confidencia expresada a media luz. Un regalo. Una bendición. No me pidan objetividad. Después de escuchar a Mengoni, un sola vez, ya no podré serlo nunca más.

ESC 2013: ITALIAN JURY CORRECTED THE DIASPORA VOTES

If anyone should wonder if the juries are really useful, have a look at the Italian televotes below. Diaspora reigns. It's also rather astonishing number of invalid votes, 20,89%! Did Marco Mengoni fans, his #esercito, still try to vote for him after all?! Just in case... Anyways, the jury seems to have liked Norway a lot, Lithuania, Malta, Spain and Denmark, too. Not so impressed with Romania, Russia and Moldova and maybe they both agreed on Greece? Judge yourself:

Another of the “Big 5” songs we are seeing for the first time. This ballad won at San Remo Song Festival for Marco, who is dressed elegantly in a designer suit. He has a powerful voice, deep in its vibrato and once again, doesn’t require any gimmicks to sell it. As he takes to the catwalk he finishes off this solid performance. Grazie Europa!

ESC2013: Crónica sobre a final da Eurovisão - por Jessica Mendes

Termino por falar naquela que para mim foi a melhor atuação: a Itália. Se aquilo que Marco Mengoni fez em Malmö não se pode chamar perfeição, então não sei onde empregar essa palavra. Voz perfeita música perfeita e uma atuação simplista e intimista tal como pede “L’essenziale”. Ficou mais uma vez comprovado que qualidade não é sinónimo de vencer a Eurovisão (neste caso foi sinónimo de um mero sétimo lugar que, na minha opinião, devia ter sido mais). Talvez faltasse uma chuva de fogo ou uns confetis pelo ar, mas fazer aquilo que o italiano fez é bem mais difícil, uma vez que tinha todos os olhares concentrados apenas em si e todos os ouvidos na sua belíssima voz.

MARCO MENGONI HITS IT WORLDWIDE

Eurovision has been good to Marco Mengoni. Already for the second day in a row he has been the most downloaded Italian artist in the world - after Andrea Bocelli. Considering he was pretty unknown outside Italy just weeks ago this is a great result and maybe a start of something big. He has recorded already songs in both English and in Spanish and will most likely follow other big Italian names to the Latin market... Meanwhile in Italy he is continuing his L'Essenziale tour that was interrupted by the Eurovision circus in Malmö 2013. Tonight he's in Florence.... The tour continues until October so the rest of the world has to wait....

Just returned from Malmö after his great success at the Eurovision Song Contest where he achieved the 7th position for Italy, Marco Mengoni continues promoting his latest album #PRONTOACORRERE. Seeing the high number of tickets sold he has recently announced additional dates to please all his fans.
To Marco Mengoni, this is being a year full of success. After representing Italy at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest where he achieved the seventh position becoming the only performer from a Big 5 country to get into the top 15, his concert tour which is taking him all around his home country is in now full swing.
In Italy, an average of 1,878,000 people watched the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday night with a market share of 9.17%. Compared to last year when an average of 1,410,000 people watched the show it means that Marco managed to bring 468,000 extra viewers, something that was expected since he has become one of the most popular artists in Italy.
His song Pronto A Correre is playing on almost all the radio stations and his album continues in the high positions of the sales charts. To cope with the continuing demand for tickets after the first triumphal shows in Milan, Turin and Genoa, the winner of the Sanremo Festival has now announced some new dates of L'Essenziale Tour where he presents his latest album which came out last March entitled #PRONTOACORRERE which features fifteen new songs including his Eurovision entry.
On stage alongside Marco there will be some extraordinary musicians such as Luca Colombo, musical director; Gianluca Ballarin and Andrea Pollio playing keyboards; Giovanni Pallotti on bass, Peter Crow ( ) on guitar and David Sollazzi as drummer.

(è molto lungo, metto solo le parti che riguardano Marco)

Para mim, as melhores da noite foram mesmo as da Itália e da Suécia, que, sendo as minhas primeira e segunda favoritas, respetivamente, deram conta do recado. Entre as duas, achei a Itália superior em termos vocais, já que Robin desafinou um pouco na parte final do tema. No entanto, achei as duas atuações cheias de profissionalismo, bem estudadas e com planos de câmara excelentes - especialmente a de Robin, já que tinha a vantagem de vir do país anfitrião.

Um 7º lugar para a Itália é mau, já que merecia sem dúvida um top 5. Marco tem uma voz mágica e foi uma das melhores actuações da noite.

MARCO MENGONI'S TRIUMPHANT TOUR CONTINUES

There's no doubt what is the hottest thing in Italy this season. Marco Mengoni. His tour continues from sold out triumph to another, his esercito of fans following him everywhere, waiting for him outside hotel and theaters screaming like it was Beatles all over again.... Mengonimania indeed! His Eurovision entry has become a real sing-a-long song as everyone sings along, leaving him at times to only stand and watch visibly moved.... like here in Padua.
After Eurovision L'Essenziale has charted in iTunes in 30+ countries and the album #prontoacorrere in 12. Slovenia, Malta, Spain, Hungary and Greece seems to have taken to their hearts the most. Tomorrow the tour will be in Rome.

Italy: Marco to attend Wind Music Awards and MTV Awards

Marco Mengoni, the 2013 Italian Eurovision representative will be attending the forthcoming Wind Music Awards scheduled to be held on 3 June at the Foro Italico di Roma.

Marco will be also collecting an award at the 2013 Winds Awards ceremony, which will be televised on Rai 1.

The Italian superstar will also be attending the 2013 Italian MTV Awards ceremony on 15 June in Florence. Marco has been nominated in 3 different categories: Superman, Best Fan and Artist Saga. The show will be televised live on MTV Italy at 21.10 on Saturday 15 June.

Marco is among Italy's most sought after artists today, enjoying fame, name and recognition on home soil. He won the 2013 Sanremo Song Festival last February and has been on a tight schedule touring Italy. The Italian artist has a full schedule until next October: he has a massive line up of concerts scheduled in the forthcoming months as part of his pan Italian tour.

Marco Mengoni represented Italy at the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest with the song L'Essenziale, achieving a 7th placing.

Eurovision songs in the charts

One more year we're delighted to see the invasion of the participating songs of the Eurovision Song Contest in the international charts. Not only the winning song from Denmark has entered most European markets but many of the other countries' entries and the compilation album have done it as well.

The appearance in the charts of the Eurovision Song Contest entries begins when the songs are chosen in their countries. Then as the dates of the contest approach, the compilation album is released internationally giving new chart life to the songs, especially thanks to the new download platforms. And finally right after the contest, and even now, several days after, we're glad to witness the performance of many of the songs in a lot of music charts around the world.

Class of 2013: A great mix

The fact that about half of this year's entries have made it to the charts in other countries than their own speaks for itself. That's the case with all the songs that finished inside the Top 10. Among them Margaret Berger's I Feed You My Love, which finished 4th for Norway, has appeared in the charts of more than ten countries, including number 24 in Germany and number 1 in the Swedish download charts.

The other songs in the Top 6, Hold Me, Gravity, What If and Alcohol Is Free have also made it to international charts but bigger success is found for the entries of Italy, Malta, The Netherlands and Hungary: L'Essenziale has been a longtime number 1 in Italy and has reached multi-platinum status there while charting in six other countries. Marco Mengoni's album #prontoacorrere is equally successful.

MARCO MENGONI: TRIPLE PLATINUM AND WIND MUSIC AWARDS TONIGHT

Marco Mengoni has finished the first leg of his triumphant L'essenziale tour, and the single and Eurovision entry has sold double platinum. And the album #prontoacorrere has gone platinum as well. Tonight he is one of the hottest names in Wind Musis Awards in Rome's Foro Italico stadium. The other possible names receiving awards tonight include Claudio Baglioni, Modá, Renzo Rubino (awarded for WMA Next generation 2013 award), Biagio Antonacci, Emma Marrone, Gianna Nannini, Ligabue, Tiziano Ferro, Eros Ramazzotti, Laura Pausini, Alessandra Amoroso, Giorgia.... the cream of Italian pop music scene for sure. MARCO MENGONI READY TO CONQUER LATIN AMERICA. IN SPANISH

Marco Mengoni is having a little break from his tour at the moment it surely doesn't mean he's having a holiday. A couple of days ago he was in Rome's Foro Italico and picked up two Wind Music Awards besides performing, and shortly he will be in Florence's Piazzale Michelangelo for MTV Music Awards (June 15, 2013) where he most likely will pick up an award or two as well. But the big news is that in between he will be in Milan and in studio to record Spanish versions of his songs, so Latin America and Spain, get ready for Mengomania! The Italian tour continues on July 4, 2013 from Trento, and continues until mid-October.

Marco Mengoni prepara la grabación de su álbum en castellano

Continúa la estela de éxitos de Marco Mengoni galardonado anoche con 2 Wind Music Awards que certifican a los álbumes más vendidos de la música italiana.

El italiano fue galardonado por el tema ganador de Sanremo que representó a Italia en Malmö, L’Essenziale y por su álbum #prontoacorrere.

Marco se encuentra actualmente en Milán durante la pausa de su exitosa gira de conciertos. Durante su estancia volverá de nuevo al estudio de grabación para grabar sus temas en castellano con las miras puestas en el mercado español y sudamericano.

Depois de recebidos milhares de votos nas diferentes categorias e de todos os jurados terem apresentado as suas votações, chegou o momento de revelar os vencedores das 11 categorias dos ESCPortugal Awards - Festival da Eurovisão 2013.

Antes de iniciarmos a apresentação dos resultados há-que explicar como se procedeu à votação. Como já havia sido anunciado, o público e o júri tiveram o mesmo peso na votação (50/50). As sondagens que estiveram disponíveis durante o processo serviram como meio de adquirição dos votos do público, sendo que os valores percentuais de cada candidata há meia-noite de sexta feira foram convertidos em pontos, o que prefaz que o público tenha atribuído 100 pontos em cada categoria. O painel de jurados foi constituído por doze personalidades, sendo elas as seguintes: Diogo Canudo (Crónicas de Eurofestivais), Emanuel Filipe (leitores), Eurico Alves (ESCPortugal), Fabiana Silva (JanelaESC), Gonçalo Vieira (PortugalnoESC), Inês Santos (representante portuguesa no ESC1998), João Carvalho (aTelevisão), Nelson Costa (ESCPortugal), Nuno Carrilho (ESCPortugal), Patrícia Gargaté (Tugavision), Rogério Berrucho (ESCPortugalTV) e Samuel Franco (leitores). Todos os jurados tiveram à sua disposição 8 pontos em cada categoria, que puderam distribuir livremente, sendo que os quatro elementos do ESCPortugal tiveram 9 pontos à sua disposição (8 pontos normais e 1 ponto extra que se encontra a negrito na votação e em caso de empate duplica), prefazendo um total de 100 pontos.

Italy: MTV Success for Marco Mengoni in Firenze

L'Essenziale performed by Marco Mengoni, who also just happens to be the co-writer alongside Roberto Casalino and Francesco De Benedettis finished in seventh place at the Eurovision Song Contest with a total of one hundred and twenty six points. Ultimately, commercial success has been achieved in no less than eight countries including Austria, Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland amongst others. This years' edition of the Pan-European event had the best following in the past three years in Italy noting that the broadcaster, RAI is showing an increased interest in presenting music to the rest of the continent with record labels using the platform to promote artists abroad.

Firenze was lit up during most of the evening as they hosted the MTV Italy Awards last night and one of the drawcards was undoubtely Marco Mengoni who performed his latest single Pronto a Correre taken off his sophomore album of the same name. The brand new track which is currently at number #9 on the FIMI Charts is quite different to his debut single off the album, L'Essenziale but captures the audience with a strong message. Marco was nominated for several awards, and did managed to triumph in a couple including the 'Air Action Vigorsol Superman' Award which was given to the artist who is most likely idolised. Marco Mengoni is one of the fastest rising stars in Italy and he will surely become one of the successful stories of Sanremo in the many years to follow. Marco Mengoni, the 2013 Italian representative is flying high these days. The boy with the golden touch won a total of 2 Awards at the very first edition of the MTV Italy Awards in Florence last Saturday.

The event was held at Piazzale di Michelangelo in Firenze ( Florence) and Marco Mengoni won the Air Action Vigosol Superman Award and the Best Saga Award.

The 1st edition of the MTV Italy Awards was hosted by: Virginia Raffelle, Omar Fantini and Usbaldo Pantini. Many Italian stars will be graced the occasion and took the stage in Florence last Saturday : Chiara, Emma, Fedez, Club Dogo, Que Pequeno, Gianna Nannini, Max Pessali, Malaki Ayane.

Marco Mengoni is the “Man Of Steel” as he wins big at the MTV Italy Awards last weekend. Nominated for 3 awards he managed to win 2. He scooped the ”Air Action Vigosol Superman Award” and the “Artist Saga Award”.

The first MTV Italy awards took place on Saturday Night in Florence.

Marco’s tour of Italy has been extended until October due to the heightened demand to see him live. Again as we say – it is not winning Eurovision that counts but what you do with the exposure at the contest. Marco finished 7th in this year’s Eurovision Contest.

ESC Radio Awards 2013 – The Winners

The poll for the 2013 ESC Radio Awards is decided. As usual, votes came in not only from the countries that participated in the contest, but from the whole of Europe and other parts of the world like North and South America and Australia. Thanks a lot to everyone who voted! And here are the winners:

Once again we have one winner who picks up the trophy in two categories: Bonnie Tyler, the Welsh singer who represented the United Kingdom in Malmö with the song Believe In Me, written by Desmond Child, Lauren Christy and Christopher Braide, wins the awards for Best Song and Best Female Artist with 12.6% and 16.9% of the vote, respectively. Congratulations, Bonnie Tyler!
It’s the first time for a UK representative to pick up an award in the ESC Radio polls. The UK’s best result to date was in 2011, a sixth place in the Best Song voting with I Can, and a third place for Blue in the Best Group category that same year.

The second place in this year’s Best Song category, with 7.5% of the vote, goes to Norway’s entry I Feed You My Love, performed by Margaret Berger. The Italian entry L’Essenziale finished in third place with 7.14%, by a hair’s breadth ahead of Ukraine’s Gravity with 7.05%. Their representative Zlata Ognevich (13.8%) finished second in the Best Female Artist category, and Anouk from the Netherlands came third (11.3%). Anouk’s Birds ranks fifth in the Best Song voting.

Marco Mengoni who came 7th in the contest in Malmö wins the Best Male Artist voting with 18.3%, clearly ahead of Iceland’s Eythor Ingi with 14.3% and Azerbaijan’s Farid Mammadov with 12.7%. It’s Italy’s first win in the ESC Radio Awards.
